INDIAN CRAFT SHOP PRESENTS CONTEMPORARY JEWELRY BY
LEO YAZZIE
Artist
of the Month Highlight: June 13-24, 2005
Guest Artist Dates: June 17-18, 2005

(Washington
D.C.) In
June, The Indian Craft Shop will feature works by Navajo
jeweler Leo Yazzie. This award-winning
jeweler has been designing and creating fine jewelry
for more than 30 years. His work in gold and silver features
a combination of traditional and contemporary designs
are inspired by the rug patterns he watched his mother
and grandmother weave when he was young. He sets his
bracelets, rings, necklaces and buckles with stones of
turquoise, red and pink coral, sugilite, lapis, opal
and other quality gemstones. Rich multi-colored inlay
work often highlights larger stones or adds accents to
his designs. His avant-garde work is fitting for today’s
contemporary fashions.
The Shop
will feature Leo’s works from June 13 until June
24. Leo will travel from Flagstaff, Arizona to join the
Shop on Friday, June 17, and Saturday, June 18, from 12:00
noon until 4:00 pm each day to discuss his art.
